Governance
GenPro is a not-for-profit membership association representing the owners of New Zealand's general practices and urgent care centres.
GenPro has upwards of 500 members across Aotearoa New Zealand who provide care for more than half of the country's population. GenPro is the only national association which exists on behalf of individual providers of family doctor services.
Our Board
The GenPro Board is a group of highly respected leaders within New Zealand’s healthcare sector, each bringing significant expertise, strategic insight, and a commitment to supporting the interests of general practitioners.
With a clear focus on advocacy, governance, and ensuring the sustainability of general practice, the Board is dedicated to navigating the complexities of the sector while upholding the values of equity, professionalism, and excellence shaping the future of healthcare for the benefit of both practitioners and patients across Aotearoa.
The GenPro Board of Directors plays a pivotal role in providing strategic oversight and direction for the organisation. This includes setting the strategy and the development of the annual strategic work plan. The Board consists of seven directors, with one elected as Chair by their peers.
GenPro upholds a transparent and democratic election process, allowing any suitable member to stand for election. Two director positions are open for election each year, with the Board confirmed at GenPro’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Directors serve a three-year term, while the Chair holds their position for two years, with the potential for reappointment. The Board also has the flexibility to co-opt additional members based on specific skills and organisational needs.
Our Board reflects the diverse nature of general practice, with past directors including GPs, nurses, practice managers, and practice shareholders.
