History
GenPro was formed in 2020 to give general practices and urgent care in Aotearoa New Zealand dedicated representation and a united voice in the health sector. We achieve this by providing advocacy on matters including health system reform and the creation and implementation of government policy.
Inadequate funding, an undervalued and unsupported workforce, and ever increasing workloads are among the mounting challenges that general practices face and the reason why they join GenPro.
While primary health care providers continue to work tirelessly to care for patients and whānau, the current model of doing more with less is unfair and unsustainable.
From its beginnings, GenPro has amplified the voice of general practice and urgent care centre teams. We are effective in reaching decision-makers and ensuring
government agencies and funding bodies, elected officials and our colleagues in other parts of the health system have a clear understanding of the significant pressures on primary care providers.
